As a United Way donor for 50 years, you might say I believe in giving back to the communities in which we live and work. I first donated through my workplace campaign at Procter & Gamble. P&G is a major longterm United Way supporter in Canada and elsewhere – in terms of their donations, including matching employee donations, and their loaning of expert resources to ensure campaigns are successful. When I was invited to join the local United Way’s volunteer Board of Directors in June 2000, it was a great honour. There, I learned much more about United Way’s substantial reach into the social fabric of its various communities and the incredibly important work they do every day, to support those in need through the very diverse agencies they support. I know they’re a very worthwhile community asset that helps the most vulnerable in our community.
