Tom, a lifelong resident of Dundas and graduate of McMaster University, is the elected Secretary and Chief Administrative Officer of the Hamilton and District Labour Council. He is passionate about increasing the caring capacity of our communities within a framework of social and economic justice that values cooperation, respect and inclusion. He has served on numerous community boards, including those of the Social Planning and Research Council, the Adult Basic Education Association, the Hamilton Future Fund and the Association of Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (now Colleges Ontario). He was a governor of Mohawk College for six years and chaired the Board in 2002-03. His long association with the United Way of Burlington & Greater Hamilton has included several stints on the Campaign Cabinet and nine years of previous service on its Board of Directors, serving as Board Chair from 1997 to 1999, then returning as a director from 2012 – 2017. Currently, he sits on the Board of Directors of Workforce Planning Hamilton (formerly the Hamilton Training and Adjustment Board) where he is Secretary-Treasurer. He is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
