Marg Macfarlane is 2nd Vice President of the Oakville and District Labour Council. She has been an active delegate on the Council for more than 20 years, supporting workers and community and promoting the labour movement. Currently retired, Marg worked in education for 32 years as an Elementary school teacher. The last eight of those years were spent advocating for quality public education and representing teachers at the Elementary Teachers’ Federation in Halton, as Vice President for one year and President for seven years. Marg’s interest in community work includes 30 years helping to promote and organize school and community Terry Fox Runs. She has also spent several years with the Canadian Retinoblastoma Society, which provides information and support to families touched by the childhood cancer Retinoblastoma, and has worked with the Canadian Retinoblastoma Research Advisory Board where survivors/families, researchers, and healthcare workers aim to create meaningful, co-directed retinoblastoma research that is relevant to patients and improves outcomes. Marg also served 9 years on the Board of Community Development Halton. She is a proud mother of her grown daughter and currently lives in Waterdown with her husband of 34 years. Marg is very happy for this opportunity to contribute to the wonderful work of the UWHH.
