To our devoted community:
Volunteers are the lifeblood to the health of our community. On behalf of United Way Halton & Hamilton, I extend a heartfelt thank you to the many volunteers who donate time and energy in supporting those in need. With their unwavering commitment, thousands of people have hope, and access to local services, which can help them feel included in, and connected to, their community.
Every day, we see first-hand the strength of our volunteers demonstrated by the unity of those who care for each other. Through locally funded programs and agencies, community partners, genuine citizen leadership, and volunteers, we are able to do more and better for the five communities supported in Burlington, Halton Hills, Hamilton, Milton, and Oakville.
Volunteers are a part of our United Way family. I am personally humbled and take pride in the vast array of people who donate their time – I assure you, even a few hours can spark positive change for a person in need. At this time, let’s also embrace acts of kindness, such as helping a fellow neighbour in a time of crisis or being there for a friend.
United Way Halton & Hamilton is proud of our efforts in supporting individuals battling poverty, at-risk youth, newcomers, seniors living in isolation and numerous others struggling in our neighbourhoods. This impact reaches far beyond the not for profit sector. Ultimately, with volunteership, we are driving forward capacity for hundreds of programs that rely on lending hands to deliver services.
During this National Volunteer Week, I invite the community to join me in reflecting on all the times we have come together, standing united to support one another and for making a real difference in the life of others.
It is not solely one week that we are thankful and grateful: it is every day that we appreciate the dedication of volunteers committed to serving those in need. Volunteers play a vital role in fostering a brighter future and generating meaningful change.
Thank you, today and every day, for being a part of United Way and for being a vital support to one another.
Yours truly,
Brad Park
