Employee Engagement Activities

Communities across Halton and Hamilton continue to struggle with the effects of the pandemic, in addition to issues that many were already facing long before Covid-19, such as poverty, mental illness and isolation. Inspire your workplace to take action and join the recovery through group activities, such as volunteering, having a discussion about the issues facing our communities or listening to stories from those whose lives have been changed by United Way.

Here’s how you can get involved

Days of Caring

One day, a whole lot of love. Join United Way Halton & Hamilton as we support local agencies across our community through online and in-person volunteer projects, such as participating in mock interviews for job seekers, tidying gardens, or writing cards for seniors. Stay tuned for details and registration coming up in April/May!

United Way’s Virtual Volunteering Kits are an easy and creative way to give back to community from the comfort of your own home or workplace, at your own pace. The kits provide you with the list of supplies you’ll need, instructions on how to prepare the items, and directions on how to drop-off your kits so that United Way can distribute to local agencies in need. We also provide social media handles and hashtags so you can share your project and #locallove with family and friends.

Kits include themes such as personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene, culturally appropriate meals, activities for kids and more. View kits here.

Please connect with your United Way staff contact (or email info@uwhh.ca) to confirm participation in a Virtual Volunteering Kit.

Our supporters often want to make more than a financial contribution to our community. Through our Community Donation Warehouse, we build relationships with corporate and logistics partners, creating a community-based solution giving new life to unused inventory. The program enables United Way to further support agencies in achieving their missions, while enhancing the scope and impact of our own work. Learn more about the program here. Volunteer opportunities at the Community Donation Warehouse are available now! Connect with Kayla Willet for more information on making a donation or volunteering kwillet@uwhh.ca

Spread a little holiday joy to families and individuals in need during the festive season. United Way’s annual Holiday Helping Hand program supports hundreds people through local agencies. Participants can choose to adopt a family, help with a volunteer project, or contribute to our gift and food drive. Program details and registration launch in November each year.

If you are group of 10 or more and would like to explore options of creating a custom Day of Caring experience, contact your staff partner to learn more. These volunteering projects can be designed as in-person or online or both! All Day of Caring projects support local United Way Halton & Hamilton-funded social service agencies.
