Vice President, Marketing & Communications

United Way Halton & Hamilton is searching for a dynamic, strategic leader and high-quality teammate to join the organization as Vice President, Marketing & Communications. Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications strategy and plans for United Way Halton & Hamilton, and to ensure support for the organization’s achievement of goals and priority objectives.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Marketing & Communications professional to grow momentum, results and to strengthen mutually-beneficial relationships throughout the five communities of Halton and Hamilton. The successful candidate will be a well-rounded, accomplished professional, with a strong reputation of success.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and lead the implementation of strategies to ensure organizational goals and priorities are effectively supported
• Develop communications programs and processes and adjust strategy and tactics to increase effectiveness and value
• Ensure brand and reputation-building initiatives are designed for strategic benefit and are measurable for effectiveness
• Represent United Way Halton & Hamilton in the media, at events and in community
• Work collaboratively with other departments and United Ways to align communications activities to the broader United Way national vision and goals
• Write, develop and implement event and fundraising marketing tactics: e-mail campaigns, event related communications, social media and press releases
• Ensure all marketing is integrated within the broader engagement strategy, brand guidelines and organizational messaging
• Direct and implement traditional, social and digital media strategies
• Cultivate and manage online communities on the organizations behalf
• Oversee the review of relevant content daily, tracking metrics and monitoring relevant industry conversations
• Identify and communicate marketing analytics, including online and other marketing trends and best practices to the senior management team on a consistent basis
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior executive leadership positions
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in marketing and communications, or public relations
• Demonstrated excellence in media relations, representing an organization in live or recorded segments
• Experience providing strategic communications leadership and counsel to achieve goals and objectives
• Proven ability to lead, manage and mentor a high-performing department or team
• Strong in operations management with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and highly motivated to achieve results
• A strong writer and storyteller, eager to produce compelling communications
• Able to provide personalized communications, writing and marketing support to the organization for content development, first and third-party fundraising
• A team player with a proven ability to think big, take the initiative and carry projects to completion
